Being a Recruiter and The Things You’ll Never See on LinkedIn 🤪

People think recruitment is glamorous. And honestly… sometimes it is.
But let’s be real, it’s also not for the weak. It’s hard work. It’s human work.
You’re dealing with people with their own dreams, fears, goals, likes, dislikes, “𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸” energy, and that is okay. That’s part of the magic. 🪄 And humans change their minds… a lot... and they have the right to.
But if you’ve ever wondered what my day 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 looks like behind the shiny LinkedIn posts… here’s the tea:
💛 Recruiters juggle more than a circus clown: Sourcing, strategising, negotiating, comforting, scheduling, unscheduling, rescheduling, then scheduling again because someone forgot they had a dentist appointment.
💛 Hiring managers want unicorns: “Find us someone with 10 years of experience in a tech stack invented in 2020.” Sure boss… I’ll call Hogwarts.
💛 Ethics matter: There’s a whole side of recruitment the public never sees, navigating pressure, expectations, and making sure people end up where they should, not where someone wants to shove them.
But here’s the thing… Even on the wild days, the messy, chaotic, rollercoaster days, recruitment is incredibly rewarding. Because behind every offer letter, every relocation, every new beginning… is a real person starting a whole new chapter.
And THAT is the part you never see on LinkedIn, but it’s what keeps me going every single day.
