Senior Process Safety Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Process Engineer who’s ready to take the lead on complex projects involving process optimisation, safety improvements, and sustainability across multiple sectors.

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will:

• Design and optimise industrial production processes focused on performance, energy use, and safety

• Lead process studies and feasibility assessments, working closely with multidisciplinary teams

• Prepare key deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and technical documentation

• Act as a sparring partner for clients and stakeholders, translating complex challenges into smart solutions

• Manage project timelines and coordinate internal and external collaboration

• Contribute to continuous improvement and standardisation across projects

IR Olav’s Globetrotters places technical specialists in innovative engineering environments across the Netherlands and Belgium. Our partner is a full-service engineering firm with a strong presence in both regions, known for supporting clients in achieving higher safety standards and sustainable operations.

• BSc in Chemical Engineering or Process Technology (HBO/WO level)

• Minimum 5 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in an industrial or consultancy setting

• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, process simulation, and safety engineering

• Proficiency with process design tools (e.g., Aspen, ProSim, or similar)

• Practical experience in process safety,  including leading HAZOP sessions, risk assessments, and safety documentation

• Background in handling production processes where dust explosions, overpressure, or similar hazard situations are present

• Proactive, communicative, and comfortable working independently as well as part of a team

• Fluent in English (Dutch or Afrikaans is a bonus)
