Test Automation Specialist Mainframe

To strengthen their team, our client is seeking an experienced Test Automation Engineer with solid expertise in Robot Framework and Python. In this role, the engineer will focus on automating regression testing within a complex back-end environment, primarily involving Mainframe (Cobol) and DB2 systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test tooling while actively contributing to the overall automation strategy and architecture. Working closely with developers, functional administrators, testers, and product owners, they will ensure that the tooling provides clear insights into software quality.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test tooling using Robot Framework and Python.

• Contribute to the integration of test automation within the CI/CD pipeline.

• Identify and implement improvements in test processes and test architecture.

• Report on progress, results, and bottlenecks to the team and relevant stakeholders.

• Actively participate in Agile rituals, with a focus on test automation and quality.

• Coach and support colleagues in using and expanding test automation tools and techniques.

• Deliver high-quality, reliable test solutions that support effective and efficient service delivery.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in setting up and maintaining test automation within complex back-end environments using Robot Framework and Python.

• Experience working with DB2 or other complex database environments.

• TMap or ISTQB Foundation certification.

• Strong analytical and conceptual skills with a high level of accuracy.

• Excellent communication skills, able to engage effectively with both technical and functional stakeholders.

• A collaborative and proactive professional who fosters an open and supportive team environment.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in a Cobol/Mainframe environment.

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.

• Knowledge of mainframe applications and related business processes.
