    Java Developer

    Senior (5 - 10 yrs)

    This role

As a Java Developer, you build software for municipalities and digitize processes so that citizens can arrange more and more things online themselves. In this way, you and your colleagues ensure that the municipality can approach the citizen instead of the other way around. By asking the right questions and using technologies such as Java 17, Docker, Spring Boot 3 and more, you make complex software increasingly better for users within municipalities and for citizens.

You work within the R&D team, the development department of the organization. Without this team there would be no product. Within the close-knit team, approximately 30 to 35 colleagues work closely and pleasantly together. Based on shared motivation to move forward and achieve results, they do not avoid technical challenges, but rather tackle them together and solve them

    • You are an important link within the R&D team. For example, you keep everyone on their toes by always asking questions. In doing so, you help ensure that our application seamlessly meets the needs of users. Independently and together with your (scrum) team, you are of great value when you:

    • Determines what is needed and makes the correct assessments during refinement. You do not do this alone, but together with your scrum team.

    • Comes up with smart and creative solutions that work. That means designing, developing, testing and documenting both your own solutions and those of your team members.

    • The full 100% goes for the highest quality code. You monitor, improve, analyze and resolve software findings and problems.

    • are an important player in your scrum team; you seek cooperation and actively contribute so that we can continually improve ourselves.

    • Are critical. You ask a lot of questions that regularly result in a “we always do it this way” becoming a “we could do it this way”.

    • Contributes to tightening the development guidelines. Every 2 weeks we meet to share knowledge and review and discuss each other's solutions.

    • Gain knowledge of the right tooling. Our landscape is constantly changing. You look ahead and introduce new tooling where necessary.

    Company profile

Our client, a consulting firm that offers SaaS, has been deeply rooted in the local government ICT market for decades. It puts this experience at the service of its clients in the public domain, and the increasing number of challenges they face.

With 350 dedicated employees in market-oriented domains, our client works on the solutions of today and tomorrow. As a co-creator of public services, it supports its clients in using innovative solutions to carry out social tasks as effectively and cost-efficiently as possible. Just over half of all municipalities in the Netherlands (ca.175), use our clients‘ software. With this Cloud application, municipalities record the most important moments in their residents‘ lives. Registering a child, registering a marriage or applying for a driver‘s license, for example.

Their software is therefore the beating heart of the civil affairs environment of the Dutch municipalities. Among other things, our client ensures that they continue to innovate and optimize collaborations with other (government) institutions. But also that current legislation and regulations are continuously up-to-date. This requires sustainable, creative, and smart solutions that work.
