Cobol Developer

We are looking for an experienced COBOL Application Developer to join a key player in the public services sector. In this role, you’ll help maintain and improve critical systems that support essential social benefit programs across the Netherlands. As a COBOL Developer, you will:

• Analyze and resolve production issues and system incidents.

• Develop and maintain COBOL programs in a mainframe environment.

• Collaborate closely with functional designers, testers, and fellow developers.

• Contribute ideas to improve code quality, performance, and team processes.

• Work within an agile DevOps team, participating across the full development lifecycle.

To be successful in this role, you should bring:

• Solid experience with COBOL development, ideally in a mainframe setting.

• Knowledge of JCL, TSO/ISPF, and DB2 (preferred but not mandatory).

• A proactive attitude and strong problem-solving skills.

• Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.

• Interest in working at the crossroads of legacy and modern IT - including the integration of COBOL systems with newer technologies like APIs, Java, and cloud platforms.

• Experience working in an agile or DevOps environment is a plus.
