AWS Data Platform Engineer

Our client is seeking an AWS Data Platform Engineer to join their core data platform team. This role is responsible for developing, automating, and troubleshooting critical AWS infrastructure and data processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in enabling and supporting 8+ BI and Data Science teams by defining best practices, access mechanisms, and automation frameworks for a high-performance, cost-optimized data platform.

This position is central to data, BI, and analytics within the organization. The engineer will be part of a growing, diverse team of AWS data platform experts, both internal and external, led by the platform owner. The team takes ownership of designing, building, and maintaining the platform used by BI, analytics, and data governance teams to develop data products and services.

• 4-5 years of hands-on AWS experience in BI/Data platforms, with AWS Developer or Professional certification preferred.

• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, including CDK, CloudFormation, and Terraform.

• Strong knowledge of AWS data services, including S3, Redshift, Glue, DMS, AppFlow, Data Transfer/Data Sync, Airflow, Kafka, SQS, and Step Functions.

• Proficiency in Python and PySpark, with occasional use of TypeScript.

• Experience with state machines interacting with Lambda, Glue, and APIs.

• Strong understanding of CloudWatch, CloudTrail, SNS, and EventBridge.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub.

• Excellent technical communication skills in English.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Exposure to Big Data ecosystems such as Lake Formation, Spark, and AWS Wrangler, as well as collaboration with Data Science teams.

• Experience working with Alembic.

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, particularly in hybrid or remote teams.

• Experience with Linux distributions and containerization.
